Una Ofrenda Virtual
. . . hecho para nuestro queridito nels. (a day of the dead virtual altar and offerings . . . made for our most beloved nelson.) mom finks that the mexican view of the dead returning is a much more healthy one than that of the judaeo-christian ethos with which she was raised (where usually it's a bad thing when the dead return!). you kin look here and here to find out more about this holiday if youse is unfamiliar wif it. she has decided to be happy and welcoming while remembering all those who have gone before us this year, instead of sad an' blue. we see them all, all the time, but we guesses this is a big thing for beans, who are not so "tuned in" to other frequencies.

Lovely altar! There's a Day of the Dead festival going on in Mesilla this weekend - I think Dad wants to go take some photos.
We think it's a beautiful thing.
We think it's beautiful too!
Beautiful post, too many this year have gone to the bridge. So loved and missed by those left here.
I didn't know about this. Must check it out. The kitties see Bear all the time.
That is a lovely virtual altar for Nels. What a great idea.

Oh this is the most beautiful day of the dead altar!!! We made one for Anastasia last year. And this year we have to make it for Anastaia and Emil. But they are happy and at peace....
A big thank you to Karl for sending us the link to your post. We also mourn the loss of our wonderful cat (and my brother) Roscoe who passed away the same month as your dear Nelson John LaPurr. We are sure that Roscoe and Nelson have met over the bridge and that they have become dear friends.
We also celebrate the day of the dead here in italy. Though we don't have a dinner at the cemetary like in Mexico, we do go to visit our loved ones and spend the day remembering them.
Always with us,
Never forgotten,
Untill we meet again....
Much love,
Opus and his human (Cyndi)
PS. Sorry, I forgot that I still had my Halloween costume on. Here is a photo with me (white) and my brother, Roscoe.
That is a very beautiful altar for Nelson. I knows he would love it.
I totally agreez with your Momma,We do not lose who we are when we are crossed over, which means we would still like peoplez to remember us happily rather than in tears and sadness.
My Gramma always told my Momma you should never be scared of the dead, it is the living that you have to watch out for..

We like Day of the Dead here, too. We like your altar very much (hi, Nelson!)--we didn't get to do one this year, unless we celebrate it late. We've been running about 2 weeks behind for months.
Very, very nice!! We like to see the picture and all the favorite things.
