hello, furriends

it's me, meower mom! meower dad and i are in chicago, visiting relatives, so we turned the computer off at home, lest it get fried in an electrical storm. i see that a couple of the boycats have been tagged for memes, so as soon as i get home on monday night, i'll get the system fired up (if it's not storming!) and let them catch up on the kitty blogosphere. hope you're all having a great time, wherever you are; we are!!!

we THOUGHT something was funny . . .

an' we don't mean "laffin' an' laffin'" funny. mom came home smelling furry strange last night. we sniffed an' sniffed, an' it wasn't anycat WE know. now we know why!

it's a puppy--a baby woofie! miss jennie, who works wif our mom, got a new puppy 'cause her house seemed so empty since little felix went to the bridge. he doesn't haf a name yet, but she's leanin' towards "jake". he is SO little!! we don't ordinarily post about woofies, but this guy is pretty cute. miss jennie sez he's 'spos'd to be a beagle & cocker mix. does that make him a coagle or a beaker?

nitro wants to make a playmate of him, but for "jake's" sake, we hope that doesn't happen! here are some pictures:

holy mackerel!!! (an' ofur saintly fishes)

we missed our 10,000th poster!!! that seems like quite a milestone to us, an' if we'da had our heads screwed on straight, we'da had a present for that lucky kitty!! we looked back in our counter/tracking software to see if we could identify him/her/them at least by ISP, an' it was so long ago, they don't have it logged any more!! pfui!

so. howzabout we reckernize the 11,000th visitor? we will move the counter thingy up closer to the top of the page (that's why WE forgot about it), so you can see it better. an' if you are the 11,000th visitor to our site, just email us wif your snail mail address an' we'll send you something nice an' ozarkian!! or not ozarkian. depends on how we feel that day;-)

btw, mom an' dad are goin' to see our gramma an' granpa in chicago from the 10th through the 14th for both mother's day an' for their 65th anniversary. so we will prolly not be posting in that time, since mom usually shuts down the puter so it won't get blown up by a lectric storm while they're gone.

frootbat friday

at furst, we wondered if he was transparent, and we could see his last meal!!

but our Boybean, who is studying to be a tattoo-er (an' is also a tattoo-ee, like mom), says in the tattoo world that koi fishes are traditionally associated with good luck. so he must be a lucky cat! maybe he has furry good luck catching fishes!! (we doubts it is a real tattoo . . . maybe he gots it from a crackerjack box?)

acceptance speech by Right Black-Sock

Members of the Acatemy and Movie Lovers everywhere: It is a bittersweet pleasure to accept this award with thanks and gratitude on behalf of my twin sister, Left Black-Sock. She was so honored to appear as Miss Midnight’s body double and understudy! She often said that she would remember her first day on the set as the day she knew where her life’s work lay!

As many of you know, Sea of Love brought Left to the notice of the movie world and resulted in her being given the starring role in Laundry!, currently in production. She was thrilled right down to her toes by this acknowledgement of her talent!

With great sadness I must now tell you all that, while filming an action scene, she vanished. Like so many other socks, the Great Void has taken her. ::sniffle:: Please join me for a moment of prayer for her sole. Thank you all! I know I’ll meet her again on the dark side of the moon.

(Raises award) ::Lefty, this one’s for you, babe!::

the REST of the story . . .

you or your beans may have gotten an email with this picture, claiming it's hercules, the world's biggest woofie:
mr. snopes sez it's a fake: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/hercules.asp.

we think hercules was really real, but has gone to doggy heaven, 'cause the man & lady's new pet eated him!!

about magic, by her mom and dad . . .

(our auntie denise and uncle rich say about their kitty, magic muffin, who went to the bridge on 4/26/07:)

She was special, found on a snowy day in November, barely 3 weeks old, looking for warmth, when I drove into the parking lot for work, hopping on my car hood and a voice that could be heard a block away. She was full of worms, had fleas and bronchitis so bad we didn't think she would make it. She was all of 1.5 lbs. We fed her by hand around the clock, popped her in a basket with an electric blanket, and prayed. She was also a devil, the feral in her never left and every spring and fall she would caterwaul at night and go pee where ever her little spirit took her in the house. She loved to play with her dog-brothers Avery, Sparky and Harrison, she would tackle them with her front paws and they would play her game by falling over and roll around with her, like wrestlers from the WB RAW. She has two other kitten sisters, Erin and Merlin, and it was a tough sell at first with each of them as they joined the family, but she accepted them and kept her place as the Princess Pee, HRH and they acquiesced to her.

She will always be in our hearts, and we know she is free and happy now and is with her other brothers and sisters and friends who left for the bridge before her.

(meowers' note: there are two posts about magic here, please scroll down to see them the second one)

in memory of our cousin, magic

we nefur met our cousin magic, 'cause she lived fur away in illinois. but we know that she was a Good Kitty, and furry much loved.

on a cold november day 19 years ago, our auntie denise found her sitting on the hood of the car, trying to keep warm. so magic got to come inside and join The Zoo, where she became the old, wise kitty that all the critters (an' there are a buncha them) looked up to. she is sorely missed, and never to be replaced in their hearts.

however, guess what?? two tiny little feral boys (jupiter and mars) were being brought to the v-e-t just as auntie and uncle were leaving after magic's trip to the bridge. they are even now waiting at the v-e-t's office to get old enough to join The Zoo. these little guys won't replace magic, but it seems just a little "magical" to us how those two little lives came close enough for auntie denise an' uncle rich to pull them into their orbit just as magic was leaving. maybe magic called to them, knowing they needed a peaceful, loving furefurr home. we wish them all long, healthy lives together! l'chaim!

and shalom to the hearts of all who miss sweet magic.Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will.

May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

tues-news!

update on our furriend, scooter

scooter lives at the best friends animal sanctuary. his picture is in the right hand column of our bloggie; if you clicks on his picture, you can read about how he came to the sanctuary. we sponsors him efurry month, 'cause we likes his spirit and purrsonality! he doesn't know he's handicapped, or if he does, he sure doesn't let it bother him! mom would gladly drive alla way to utah to 'dopt him but can't, since coco-cocoa wouldn't play fair wif him. (prolly neither would ed, an' xing would hissssss & scare him). he's prolly better off where he is, meetin' an' greetin' lotsa folks! anyway . . .

last saturday, we gots a email telling 'bout how he's doing these days, an' thank bast, he's doing great. it feels SO furry good to know that we are helping anofur kitty have the safe home an' lovin' care he needs if he can't live wif us.

if you don't already, whyn'tcha do the same for some down-on-their-luck kitty? you'll be glad, an' so will they!

our mom has done something VERY bad!

at least, that's what we think. y'know that squirter thing that gets you all wet when you're doing something that you shouldn't? we watched in horror from the Big Litterbox doorway this morning as she used it to blast herself in the HEAD--repeatedly!!!!! YIKES!!!! =8-O

it must have been horrybul for her; when she came out, her hairs had gone all curley, just like she says will happen to us if we accidentally stick our claws in the little 'lectric holes in the wall! why would she DO this? what could she have done that she felt she deserved this drefful punishment??? is our mom losing her marbles??

sleepy, snowy saturday

remember, folks--it's the middle of april in southern missouri

ed catches a cuddly nap on mom's lap by the woodstove, while . . .snow whirls down around our barn . . .
the irises and surprise lilies look furry disappointed (mom even heard the robins saying bad words), an'
the poor trees that suffered so in the ice storm have snowy insults piled upon injuries, as they struggle to put out some greenery despite their losses.
sadly, there are lotsa trees in a 50 mile swath all along from oklahoma/kansas right through missouri that look like these because of the january 15th ice storm. *sigh* mom says her druid is hurtin'. we din't know she had one, but we feel sorry for him. lotsa fev-vers won't haf places to live this summer.
