ICEBOUND, Part the Second

meower mom again: posting from grandma & grandpa's on the southeast side of springfield, where they din't have near the breakage we did (although the lights flickered twice during lunch today).

it's worse today, although yesterday's aggregation of wetness was not as severe. we are battening our hatches, though; a friend from joplin (70 mi west of here) just told us it had begun to sleet there, so it's comin'. and wind, we hear, will be in the mix, too. devastating for ice-laden trees and poles and power lines.

this morning's paper (yay for the paper guy---boo for the mailman, who din't make it yesterday) now says upwards of 65,000 are without power, and several of the little hamlets nearby are 90%=100% without power too. you couldn't buy a generator in town for love AND money. there's no power at tom's store anymore.

plenty of 'nip and food. top of woodstove warm enuf for instant coffee and cocoa, heating soup and canned stew, so we'll be fine. the deadly dullness will kill us, if anything. painted my nails by candlelight, re-read "snowbound" for the millionth time. napped. kitties like that!!

all for now. don't know if will get to a puter tomorrow or not. thanks millions to all who are praying and purring and wishing us well. we'll make it fine; pray for those who aren't so well off!

Oh stay warm without power. We had that with 300,000 without power in November and we didn't get ours back for three days. We're even in a city and not out in no where. Wind is bad. And it made me and Cheysuli run all over the place and get into all kinds of trouble!

Oh no - my sweetie and his family are in Frozen Land! That looks way scary. We don't think it would have mattered if the mailman came out or not - the mailboxes look frozen shut with icicles dripping off 'em. Stay warm and safe - lotsa purrs coming your way!

OMG, Cheryl looks as fun as it is here in Denver. Not so much power loss here, not so much breakage, we had that in October. Still, slick roads, am lovin' that new train to take me ums to work daily! And happy MLK day to ya'll. And right now? -1!!! Oh yah, thems are sure enuf "mild" winters here in the shelter of the Rockies. My FL and AZ blood is bout froze. My kitty cat has got a coveted winterlike coat tho, so she's good.

Oh wow!!! We just got really really really cold here (like -40 (that's both F and C)) I 'member once when that happened when I lived in Toronto, and then our pipe burst and there was water all over the floor so I couldn't get to my food or my litterbox and my OTW had to put all my stuff on the kitchen counters and in the bedroom which was higher up!

You all stay safe and warm and watch out for vishus deers 'cause they may try to take advantage of the weather to catch you!

My OTW says it's good weather to try to do stuff like the vikings did it!
